We truly owe our veterans a debt of gratitude for their selfless service while fighting for our freedom. For this reason, we must provide assistance to both our recently discharged veterans transitioning into civilian life as well as our older veterans in need of health care and other vital resources. I have worked to ensure that our veterans are aware of the many state services than can aid their transition into civilian life and throughout their lives.

Further, I have supported several measures during my time in the Michigan Legislature that serve to benefit our veterans by protecting their honor through my support of “Stolen Valor” legislation, as well as the newly formed Veterans Affairs Agency, which specializes in connecting those who served with programs and services that can assist them.

Michigan can never fully repay the enormous debt we owe these brave men and women, but we can help to secure a life of dignity, honor, and appreciation that they and their families deserve.
